An Altar in the Fog
Lino de Albergaria
Synopsis:
Ouro Preto, a baroque town built in the eighteenth century, was rediscovered by the Brazilian modernist authors, impressed by its originality, and soon identified it as a model of a national identity. Artists of late modernism as Cecilia Meireles, Guignard and Lucio Costa focused on the city already perceived as a mystical place for its churches and its landscape constantly shrouded by fog.
