Thirty years of writing makes us wonder how the reader has become an author and how both, reader and writer, co-exist. In these three decades, Lino de Albergaria has published more than 80 books, a few for adult audiences, but most of his work is for a young readers.

For Lino de Albergaria to publish his first stories, at age 35, he underwent through a long period of preparation. First, he had to listen to the intriguing narratives, read aloud by his teachers, at the end of a class or to the his father’s long-plays of ancient tales, what soon made him fascinated by the East and Ali Baba’s cave of treasures whose access was obtained by the magical password made up of the right words.

As soon as alphabetized, he picked up the habit of going to bed with this kind of paper box, one that holds paper pages by its edge, which is easy to open and readily reveals loads of surprises until his eyes glazed and he went into a sleep.

The content of books was another reason for several years of study in the area of philology, from undergraduate to doctoral degrees. The design and manufacturing of books, the object that must reach the reader, imposed on him additional studies and an adventure in France, followed by a few more years of working experience as an editor, in different cities.

Thirty years of expertize and more than eighty published books has got him in touch with several hundred characters in many, real or purely imaginary, scenarios , which still exist on paper and now also in electronic versions , creating linkages with readers who sometimes reserve them a small place in their memory.

A writer wants to be read. To be recognized by the reader is worth the effort of a lifetime. Books are an affective passport between those who write and those who read and decipher the writer’s intentions.

Many have written before Lino and will continue, of course, to write after him, each captivating readers in their own way. The stories live on, with its myriad chapters overlapping each other, involving those who feel the same pleasure and commitment to literature, this puzzled pretense about life that makes the world a thousand times more interesting.
